Savillex Blog

Overview

Savillex has been providing clean, innovative container solutions that are trusted for the most challenging life science and lab/analytical applications since 1976. We're a team of industry experts that understands the importance of being easy to do business with.

We manufacture single-use technology (SUT) products and systems for bioprocessing and cell and gene therapy (CGT) companies, in addition to hundreds of high-performance plastic products that perform the most demanding trace metal analysis in labs worldwide. We also produce custom molded components for companies in industries ranging from semiconductor to aerospace.

Our 45+ years of experience in working with the most difficult-to-mold polymers, including fluoropolymers, provides us with the expertise needed to design the most effective application solutions in the industries we serve. And unlike other companies, we design and manufacture our molding tools in-house - providing us with excellent speed, great flexibility, and complete control of product quality.

Quality and cleanliness are important to us. We use automation and HEPA-filtered mini-environments around our injection molding presses to prevent airborne contamination. For bioprocessing and CGT applications, our Purillex® life science bottles are produced in-house in a cleanroom using proprietary stretch blow molding equipment. We also offer a full range of integration services, building SUT assemblies in our cleanroom for life sciences applications.

Across the company, our goal remains the same: to apply our know-how in fluoropolymer molding to develop the world's best high-performance products – whatever the application.

Markets Served

Life Sciences

Savillex Purillex® PFA, FEP and ETFE containers are manufactured specifically for applications in FDA regulated industries and are widely used in life sciences due to their purity, superior container seal integrity and cleanliness. Our ready-to-use (RTU), pre-sterilized offerings ensure improved flexibility, reduced risk of contamination and lower cost.

Chemical

Fluoropolymers, and PFA in particular, are becoming more widely used in the chemical industry, as the need for cleanliness higher temperature capability and chemical inertness has increased. Savillex makes the widest range of fluoropolymer components for the chemical industry, enabling chemists to build their own custom systems for fluid handling, filtration and gas sampling.

Environmental

In recent years, ICP-MS has become the standard technique for trace metals analysis in the environmental testing industry. The greater sensitivity of ICP-MS has also put greater emphasis on the quality of reagents used. Savillex’s DST range of acid purification systems provide fresh, high purity acid at a fraction of the cost of commercial bottled acid, resulting in significant costs savings for the lab, while Savillex’s PFA labware and filtration products are widely used in the industry for sampling and storage.

Geochemistry

Savillex products are used in just about every geochemistry lab worldwide, from sample digestion vials, storage bottles and cleaning systems to microcolumns and ICP sample introduction systems. Savillex’s expertise in PFA molding and contamination control during manufacturing has enabled it to produce many products that have helped improve the accuracy and precision of measurements in geochemical research.

Nuclear

Fluoropolymers are widely used in the nuclear industry, where the need for low metals background and chemical inertness – particularly for HF – are critical. Savillex makes the largest range of fluoropolymer components, enabling chemists and chemical engineers to construct their own custom systems for fluid handling, filtration and gas sampling, while in the analytical lab, Savillex products are used widely with ICP-MS and many areas of sample prep and sample preservation.

Semiconductor

Semiconductor users push the limits of trace metals determination more than any other industry. Savillex’s know-how in fluoropolymer molding, in-house tooling, design and manufacturing enables it to produce the cleanest available PFA products – helping semiconductor labs to meet ever lower measurement targets. For the past 10 years, Savillex has focused on designing the highest performing PFA sample introduction products for ICP-MS. Savillex inert ICP-MS sample introduction systems are used in more semiconductor labs worldwide than any other manufacturer.

Aerospace

Fluoropolymers, and PFA in particular, are becoming more widely used in the aerospace industry. Growth in the use of fluoropolymers in aerospace is driven by the need for materials able to operate in very demanding environments in terms of temperature and chemical resistance. In addition, they are able to meet specific tribological requirements due to their excellent lubricity. Savillex provides custom solutions that solve very difficult application challenges in aerospace.

Medical

Chemical inertness, wide temperature range and the best biocompatibility of all plastics, are properties of fluoropolymers that are finding applications in the medical and med device industries. Savillex’s custom molded fluropolymers products can be found in diverse medical applications, from tiny ear drain tubes to supporting surgeons in the operating theater with cooling media delivery components that help prevent organ damage.  PFA, FEP, ETFE and PVDF are all Class VI approved and all these fluoropolymers are molded by Savillex.
